The "Hotel San Carlos" is famous for it's haunts. The ghost of "Leona Jensen" is said to still weep for her lover and her ghost has been seen roaming the halls. 3 children had drowned in the sacred Indian drinking well that now supplies the hotel. Their voices and laughter are heard in the hallways, when no children are checked in or present at the time. Before becoming a hotel, the San Carlos was Phoenix's first schoolhouse. Another Unknown man was said to have jumped to his death in the 1960's from the roof of this 7 story Hotel. In the 1960's and 1970's numerous séance's were held in the basement at the well. The Indians constructed an adobe style well and held sacred ceremonies there. Then later the schoolhouse was built on that location. There are numerous ghosts that haunt this hotel today.
