One thing that many people confront in the paranormal, is getting others to believe your paranormal experience. Or even just believing in ghost, for that matter. In this section, we might be able to shed some light as to the different ways people respond to the paranormal and maybe even why
When the word ghost is mentioned many people respond in different manners. Some with excitement as the mere mention of the word gives hair raising goose bumps on the arm. Some respond with anger, ready to unload their thoughts to you in a very aggressive and angry manner. Yet, others respond with embarrassment, interest, and some with a defending posture. But what about the religious side? Some will understand you and others will say anything that has to do with the paranormal is evil and from the devil. So the question is "How do we get others to believe"? Let's try to break a few down and maybe with an understanding as to why some people respond the way they do, it might make it easier to approach that relative about your paranormal experience. Now we are not psychologist and have no degree is such, we are only showing what we have seen in our investigations and data collecting. We don't claim to be an authority on the way people respond to paranormal. All we can do is show you what data we have collected and what peoples emotions were shown to us. With our investigations we are shown why they responded the way they did. With this, we can have a better understanding as to why and we wanted to pass this on to you so you may get a better understanding as to these emotions based on our data.
- · · Anger - This is probably the hardest emotion to deal with. For no matter what you say, the person you are talking to about ghost and haunts respond in anger. I don't think anyone could really tell you why they respond that way, but maybe if we try to understand their feelings we can still communicate the paranormal to them. Something makes a person respond in this emotion and it could even be that they had experienced the paranormal at an earlier time and the fear of their experience brings up this anger. What better way to put a stop to a conversation about ghost, by responding with anger. What ever the driving factor behind their anger, is it still possible to talk to them about the paranormal? I would have to say it depends on the relationship with the person and how you approach them about the topic. If you have someone else that you can talk to about the paranormal, then maybe that might be the road to take. But whatever you decide, just remember that the person responds this way for a reason and we must appreciate their feelings and be considerate to these emotions.
- · · Fear - This emotion can be a very hard emotion to work with. Believe it or not, most of the information people have about the paranormal is from television and the way television presents ghosts. Most of the programs that television shows perceive ghost as this monster that will do anything to get you out. To include harm a person. They separate the human factor from ghost and give them a factor of a monster. Now this is done for entertainment factors and we really can't blame television, for after all, they are just making a movie for our entertainment. But never the less, many people believe what they see on television. The next is other authorities on the subject who give out wrong information. We have seen other investigators on television give wrong information about ghost and all it did was support what television has been showing. But let me tell you that no one person is an expert in this field. But there are some things that data and evidence has shown certain things to follow a certain path and we can use that data to come up with a pretty good understanding. With this data, we can show that what they are saying is just not the course investigators have been seeing. Paranormal Investigators have found that with proper education about ghost and haunts, this can change this emotion and often times when that happens it is replaced with a sense of feeling sorry for the trapped spirits.
- · · Embarrassment - Have you ever been talking with someone about ghost and when that person responded, they did so with a smile and this smile gave you a sense that they do not believe? But actually they do believe, it is just that over the years we are taught that there are no such things as ghost and for an adult to make such a claim we are worried what the next person will think about us. We have seen interviews in this manner. Right away most say that that person is lying because they are smiling. This is just not the case. They smile because they are somewhat embarrassed. This does not mean that what they say is not true. You will also note that these smiles generally leave after the person finds out that whom they are talking with are true believers and then they open up and talk without embarrassment, the smile slowly fades away.
- · · Religious - I know this is not an emotion, but it does play a big role in the paranormal. But, we will say that this is split and you will find several different responses in the religious community. We have talked with pastors about the paranormal and have received a mixture of responses. But, we will say this, never once were we rebutted for the work we are doing by these pastors. Generally the rebuttals came from people that claim to be Christians and believe the paranormal to be pure evil. Now because M.G.H.S. is based off our religious beliefs and we try to study the paranormal based off what the Bible says and other doctrines, we have to say there is some truth to what they are saying, when they say it is pure evil. Now not in the sense that they are saying this, but in a sense with every ghost and haunting, there is an angelic and supernatural force with it. They may not show actively, but based on the Word, they are there. Our spiritual earth is made up of a delicate balance of good and evil and ghost are a direct result of this balance. So with this, good and evil is present in every haunting. Now we must stress that this is based off of our theories and our beliefs. These pastors that we have talked with has shown us different outlooks on the subject. Some believe such as we do and others warn us that evil is present with these hauntings. And we must say that they both have very informative information. So when we are talking the paranormal with the religious community, one can expect a mixture of responses and no one can blame any response. For again, it boils down to education on ghost and how this material is presented. But because there is such a diversity of paranormal investigators, each with a belief and theory of their own, there will always be mixed thoughts within the religious community and in any community.
- Now these were just a few of the types of emotions and people that one might meet in their discussions of the paranormal. If we just try to educate on ghost and hauntings, we think all people will benefit and get a better understanding. We have to be considerate to all the emotions and peoples beliefs. We may never change how they believe, but at least we will have a better understanding as to why maybe they think that way. With this, we will be able to talk with others and yet still be considerate to their feelings on the subject. We must also look at that every person lives their lives with hope and faith. We live everyday with a faith that our lives will turn out the way we are striving them to be and this faith is our driving factor. Believing in ghost is also based on the same way. It all boils down to education, media and the way we were taught. A prime example of this is just recently DNA was mapped out by scientist. Now most of the population are not scientist and have no working knowledge of DNA. But, they show the map on television and because it is from scientist, we believe what they say without any personal evidence being show to each person. So why can we believe such things as these sight unseen and without any evidence show to us? We are shown photos of black holes in space, we have never seen them personally, but yet we believe that they exist because scientist had shown us photos and told us.
The paranormal is not backed by scientist and the media shows it not in its true form. So with this, the proof of ghost and hauntings will be left in the hands of paranormal investigators such as M.G.H.S. and all the others out there. It will be up to paranormal investigators to join forces and teach what we do know and provide what we find.
So with this, whom ever you talk with and what ever emotion you are greeted with, always be considerate to others emotions and beliefs. With this we will all be able to discuss and share our experiences and seek knowledge to a better understanding of ghost and haunts.
M.G.H.S. views and theories are based on religious beliefs and we also strive in a scientific manner. Our views and beliefs will not be accepted by all and our goal is not to change what you believe, but rather, show you why we believe this way. It will be a combination of all investigators beliefs, evidence and theories to prove the goals of all paranormal investigators. "GHOST DO EXIST"!
