The Apartment - Submitted by Mike P. Once back in 1973 and 1974, I had an apartment in Warrensburg, Mo. where I attended Central Missouri University, majoring in psychology. I was going to school on the GI bill after a 4 year hitch in the Marines. The apartment was an old house that was divided into three separate apartments, two on the ground floor, and one on top. Mine, one of the ground floor apartments, boasted a very small add on bedroom on the far side of the kitchen, a bathroom smaller than any walk-in closet also coming off of the kitchen, and a tiny living room. I haven't thought much about it since I've moved on but it was an interesting couple of years. Back then I didn't really have the foggiest idea of just what would constitute a "haunting" and so just lived with it. The (entity?) created a remarkable likeness of me on the ceiling in the living room from what appeared to be a water stain, although there was no water dripping in from the apartment above. I always made a point to showcase it to people and laughingly commented on how much better looking I was in real life and that my "ghost" never majored in art. Few people agreed with me as they found it to be a remarkable likeness. The hackles on the back of my neck only stood up a few times while there. Once I was awakened by a loud crashing in the kitchen at four A.M. It sounded like someone breaking bottles and glasses all over the kitchen. My first thought was my cat, but as I reached to throw off the blankets I felt the cat, Frisbee, curled up next to me. Having been in Vietnam only three years earlier I still had good instincts concerning "whatcha don't know might kill you .. so never, ever be surprised by the unknown", with that in mind I was out of bed like a shot and into the kitchen, wishing that I had a gun, where I found all of my twenty or so wine bottle collection on the floor, UNBROKEN. The windows were shut, the cat was with me, and some of those bottles had to, somehow, magically, jump the sink and land, unbroken, on the floor. Impossible. The kitchen was freezing cold too, although the other rooms were fine, including my bedroom, which, without it's own heat source, drew heat from the kitchen. I didn't sleep any more that morning. Another time I had just returned from a weekend away, and the girls in the apartment next to mine were waiting to tell me the saga of my poor puppy that I found about a week earlier and kept in the apartment. Evidently the puppy went into the tiny bathroom, locked the door, and turned on all the faucets creating a flood in the girls apartment next door, then began yelping loudly. They came over and tried to get in the bathroom but the bathroom door was locked and the puppy wouldn't let them in. They called the landlord, who came over, opened the bathroom door, let my puppy dash out, made some comments to the girls about "sick sense of humor" and "no dogs", mopped up the water, and put my puppy outside where he ran, yelping, off to who knows where because he never returned. Now 1 - I was not there. 2 - There is no lock on my bathroom door. 3 - Puppies can't lock doors if there was a lock. One spring day a young lady came over to take Polaroid snapshots of Frisbees kittens. Every single picture showed a "ghostly image" and nothing else. She said that my place was haunted and that she would NEVER come back. She didn't. Another young lady came over one time. I had just broken up with her and was watching football with a friend in the living room. We saw her approach and worked out a plan. We were going to completely ignore her. I expected some theatrics but was not at all prepared for what was to come. She entered the apartment, walked to the over stuffed chair I was sitting in without saying a word, and sat on the arm of the chair. The next few minutes were a blur. She arose from the chair and fell on to the floor writhing and contorting around like she was having an epileptic seizure. My friend and I made sure that she had an airway and called an ambulance which took her to the hospital. They ran a scan and determined that there was NO seizure, and no history of seizures, which, of course, came from a phone call to mom and dad. When her mother and father arrived in Warrensburg an hour later they had her tested for drugs (encouraged by the attending physician) and of course, they had to have come from me. No drugs either. No medical explanation other than "he had to have given her something that we can't find". Rest assured, I didn't. The house is still there the last time I went through Warrensburg. I always look for it and tell my kids (one in college now) that I used to live in "that dump" so quit whining about how tough it is.

The Hornet Spook Like Encounter - Submitted by Rob L. At about 1:00 A.M. we drove on in and parked behind a truck that just arrived there. We introduced ourselves to the man driving and talked to him a little bit. This turned out to be an incredible stroke of luck because he had been coming there for like 2 years or so and knew the area. So finally, we asked if he had seen it that night and, FINALLY, "There it was"! I really thought the feeling was going to be one of INTENSE fear, but that's not what it felt like at all. It was a little bit scary, but, maybe because we had been out all night and were tired. It was more like amazement that it existed and how it existed. It looked fairly far away, but still was cool. It could have been mistaken for a twinkling star at first but then it started moving up the road towards us. Fear kicked in a bit, but nothing bad enough to affect us. From stories I've heard the movement wasn't anything special because it did not approach us or the cars. But it's movements were very interesting, this is kind of hard to explain but, I've only come up with one way to express it. It would start high in the sky and then it would "pendulum" back and forth while falling at the same time. All the while the colors were changing. It would be white star-like, but it would sometimes change into a red, or more of an orange. To me the most amazing thing, though, was every once in a while it would just turn this BRIGHT orange color. I really can't put into words the incredible GLOW that it gave out. (This will sound silly but imagine Bruce Banner as the normal light but The Incredible Hulk as this glow). We had always heard that it shies away from people so we decided to walk towards it just to see what happened. We were on the top of one hill and it appeared to be shining above the top of a hill, two hills away. Sorry that was confusing. There appeared to be a hill we had to climb and walk down to get to the top of the hill, we thought it was above. "So we went after it". After the first canyon we lost it but we kept going to where we thought it was. We looked and looked and stayed up there for about 20 minutes but gave up. We headed back and the guy we met talked to his friends and they were watching it the whole time. Very odd!!! We didn't find this out till later, but this is a common occurrence with the Spook Light. I don't really know if that makes it less mysterious or more mysterious...but it's gotta' mean something, right??? Contrary to what I had heard, my buddy was actually able to capture it on video. The problem with that being is there is nothing to set the video up because it was so dark you didn't even know where to try and shoot. He did capture it on video though. To all of us, it's exciting that we captures it on video and we know this but to a skeptic, it could possibly pass for a headlight or taillight. So no success there. At what was about 4 a.m. we decided we were too tired to be there anymore so we headed out. My brother watched it in the rearview the whole time we left and he said it was there the whole time. Now personally, I did not experience this but my brother said he witnessed it's shape and saw it change shape, I do believe him but as I said, I did not witness this. I recommend anybody going to see it but, the fall/winter is a good time, or at least when leaves are still off the trees. And, although, I was there on a Friday and there were very few people there, I also recommend going on a weeknight.

The Visit - Submitted by Aaron When I was six years old my younger brother who was 2 years old had passed away. Of coarse this was a terrible time for my family and it was hard for all of us to deal with. About 2 weeks after the death of my brother I woke up for some reason in the middle of the night. When I looked out through my bedroom door my little brother was standing outside the doorway. I have never been so scared in my life. I covered my head with the covers and screamed and screamed for my father to come to my room. Once my father came to my room my brother was gone. I told my father what had happened. He was speechless and told me everything was OK and to go back to sleep.
About a month passed. I woke up one evening to go to the restroom. When I got to my doorway my younger brother was standing there again. He looked like a real person, nothing see through or discolored. This time instead of crawling under the covers I panicked and swatted my hand through my brother. When my hand went through my brother's body the image of him swirled up and turned to a twisting blue fog and then disappeared. I ran to my parent's room screaming again in fear of what I had seen. I do not know if what had happened to me was something psychological or if my brother was really there. After the last time I seen my brother I have never seen him again. I almost wish I could now. I think being a bit more mature I might approach the situation a little bit different.

The Farm House - Submitted by sdjones Old Monroe Missouri Farm House, When I was a young lad of about 10 or 11 I used to stay on a farm my Uncle Ed was caretaker of. I can vividly recall my 2nd contact with a ghost. I was sitting on the stairs of this very old farmhouse, 100 yrs. or more old, with my cousins who were very young. I was sitting about halfway up. My younger cousin was on my lap. I heard what I describe as a crinkling sound like plastic wrap being scrunched behind my head. I was very clear and quite loud I snatched up the boys and ran downstairs. My Uncle Tony was in the same house in the bathroom, which was situated under the stairs and he told me he heard footsteps he was the only one there! My Uncle Ed was telling us a story about his encounter with this ghost. He was lying in bed late at night after everyone had fallen asleep . As he was lying there the bedroom door opened and he could see the outline of the head of a tall person, he sprang to his feet ripped open the door and nothing was there. What I find so freaky about this is the carpet on the floor was the shaggy type and it was virtually impossible to open the door without pushing it with allot of force. I'm sure you all know what I am talking about. Ed said that when the door opened it opened with great ease!!! I would like to know if anyone here knows or has heard anything about that type of noise being associated with ghosts or is it just that spirit enjoyed giving me the willies. The ghost never did anything unpleasant to anyone that I can recall. All the activity was confined the the stairs and bedrooms.

The Miners Graveyard - Submitted by Jeffrey D. ONE DAY A FEW WEEKS AGO MY WIFE AND I TOOK PICTURES AT AN OLD MINERS GRAVEYARD WITH GRAVES DATING BACK TO 1849. USING MY THIRTY-YEAR-OLD PLUS NIKON 35 MM CAMERA, I TOOK ABOUT 54 EXPOSURES. THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE FAIRLY SUNNY WITH FEW CLOUDS. I USED KODAK 400 SPEED FILM, I AM ALSO A GOD FEARING MAN. MY FAMILY AND I GO TO CHURCH, BUT WHEN I HAD MY PICTURES DEVELOPED I RECEIVED QUITE A SURPRISE. I HAD ABOUT FIVE PICTURES THAT CAME OUT WITH HUMAN FIGURES IN THEM. ONE PHOTO SHOWS WHAT WE BELIEVE TO BE A WOMAN IN A VICTORIAN STYLE DRESS STANDING OVER HER INFANTS GRAVE. THE PERSON THAT I BELIEVE HER TO BE IS ELIZABETH COLE, BECAUSE THIS IS HER FAMILY PLOT. TO FURTHER RESEARCH THIS GRAVEYARD 3 FAMILY MEMBERS AND I CAME OUT TO THE SITE AT 1:30 A.M. ON APRIL 2ND. ARMED WITH 2 CAMCORDERS, THE FIRST PICTURES WE TOOK WE ASKED QUESTIONS. WE GOT NO RESPONSE UNTIL MY NEPHEWS WIFE GOT HER HAIR FLIPPED UP AND NO ONE WAS STANDING THAT CLOSE TO DO THAT TO HER. SHE LET OUT A YELL AND WE LEFT AND WENT BACK TO MY NEPHEWS HOUSE. WE PLAYED THE VIDEO BACK AND YOU COULD HER US TALKING BUT EVERY TIME. I ASKED A QUESTION YOU COULD HER THIS FAINT POPPING AND MOANING SOUND. WE FINALLY GOT OUR NERVE UP AND WENT BACK ABOUT 30. MIN. LATER. WE WENT BACK TO THE SAME AREA IN THE CEMETERY, BUT IT WOULDN'T RESPOND THIS TIME. WE SLOWLY MADE OUR WAY UP TOWARDS THE GATE; I HAD MY CAMCORDER ON AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY NEPHEWS WIFE STARTED TALKING TO A MAN THAT THE REST OF US COULDN'T SEE. MY NEPHEWS SHINED FLASHLIGHTS IN THE AREA THAT SHE SAID HE WAS AT AND I AIMED MY CAMCORDER IN THE SAME DIRECTION BUT DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING. SHE STARTED ACTING FUNNY AND SAYING SIR SIR WHY ARE YOU CRYING, SO I SORT OF HUMORED HER AND ASKED QUESTIONS BECAUSE I THOUGHT SHE WAS CRAZY. I FIRST ASKED WHAT'S YOUR NAME AND PAUSED, THEN I SAID AGAIN WHAT'S YOUR NAME AND PAUSED AGAIN. I ASKED WERE YOU A MINER AND SHE ANSWERED NO IN A REAL STRANGE VOICE. NOT LIKE HERS, WE ASKED HIM WERE YOU A CHRISTIAN AND SHE ANSWERED AGAIN IN A STRANGE AND STERN VOICE NO. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN SHE SAID LET'S GET OUT OF HERE, HE WANTS US TO LEAVE. SO ON OUR WAY OUT OF THERE I HEARD A HISSING SOUND AND WE WENT BACK TO MY NEPHEWS PLACE AND LISTENED TO THE TAPE. NOTHING WAS INTERESTING UNTIL THE END OF THE TAPE WHERE WE WERE TALKING TO THE MAN AND WHEN I ASKED HIM HIS NAME THE FIRST TIME, A VOICE ANSWERED ON THE TAPE GOETJEN AND THE SECOND TIME A VOICE ANSWERED HERMAN. WE LOOKED CLOSELY AT THE TV SCREEN AND THERE WERE APPARITIONS IN THE PICTURE IN THE FORM OF A MAN. BUT HE LOOKED LIKE HE HAD WINGS INSTEAD OF ARMS AND HANDS. EVERY TIME WE TALKED HE WOULD MOVE OUT AND WHEN IT WAS QUIET HE WOULD APPEAR AND FLOAT UP AND DOWN THE SCREEN. SO WE LEFT AND THE NEXT DAY MY WIFE, MY NEPHEW AND MYSELF WENT BACK OUT THERE. WE FOUND A GRAVE MARKER OF A MAN WHO'S NAME WAS HERMAN GOETJEN, BORN 1826-DIED 1899. BEING RELIGIOUS, THE ONLY WAY THAT THIS MAKES SENSE IN MY MIND. IS THAT THE SPIRITS OF PEOPLE THAT DIED AND DIDN'T ACCEPT CHRIST INTO THEIR LIVES, SIT AND WAIT FOR JUDGMENT. WHEN THEY WILL BE PUT INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.

The Ghost Car - Submitted by Heather Brown A few years ago I was coming home from my parents house in Sylacauga, Al on a dirt road right down from their house. It is a really spooky road, but I would often take it because it was a short cut. One night in Oct. I was driving home down this road named Zubers Rd. It is kind of narrow in spots and as I turned onto the road I saw a car coming in the other direction. I moved the car over to the far side of the road to make sure they had room to get by. It was night time and all of a sudden the lights I saw in front of me were gone. I thought well that was kind of weird and kept driving. The next thing I know I have a car behind me out of no where with those same kind of bright lights and the car drives right to the back of my car and then in a flash is gone. I started driving really fast to get off the dirt part of that road. I told my husband about it and drew him a picture of what I saw. I don't know if he believed me or not. A few days later we were at my parents and said hey Ryan you want to drive down that road and see if we see anything weird and he was like sure. Sure enough we did. He couldn't believe it. So we go get my brother and take him and we see it again. So then we take my parents down there and they see it and my dad starts really freaking out. I was like dad what is a matter we don't really know what this thing is. And he says remember I told you about the guy who got killed out here a few years back over a drug deal. And I said yeah that is why you don't like me going down this road. And he says well I never told you he was killed in his car!! We went back out there several times took some friends and saw these weird lights. I guess we will never know if the guy killed in his car is the ghost car we saw. We never saw the car just car lights and by Nov. the lights were gone. My parents moved into that house in Nov. And the murder happened the month before. So maybe it is just an Oct. thing. I don't know. I guess we need to drive down there soon and see if we see anything and take a video camera and camera. This is my story.
