Apparition - A disembodied spirit that appears visibly.
Collective Apparition - A spirit sighting in which more then one person sees the same phenomenon.
Crisis Apparition - This is a type of out-of-body experience in which the person, in time of crisis or death, projects their astral body to a particular person, usually a loved one.
Electronic Voice Phenomena ((EVP) - The capture of a spirit voice on magnetic tape as an audio recording. Often, no sound can be heard at the time of the recording. It's only upon playback that the harsh, hushed voices can be heard.
Exorcism - The Expulsion of a demon or evil spirit from a human being or location. The ritual, conducted by an exorcist, is usually religious in nature, and calls upon the Higher Power to cast out the evil force(s).
Ghost - A form of apparition, usually the visual appearance of a deceased human's spirit soul.
Ghost Lights - Believed to be souls from the dead. Other legends say they are imp-like spirits.
Ghost Hunt / Ghost Investigation - A ghost hunt is an informal attempt to simply sight or record a ghost in a location believed to be haunted. A ghost investigation, on the other hand, is a carefully controlled research, set up to record paranormal activity, usually at a location known or presumed to be haunted.
Ghost Hunter - A Person who searches for, finds, and sometimes is able to identify apparitions or the cause of spirit activity.
Gray Lady - A gray lady is the ghost of a woman whose death has been caused by a loved one or who died while waiting for her lover to return or appear.
Hallucination - A false or distorted perception of objects or events with a full belief in their reality. Ghost are not hallucinations, because they have a real, external cause.
Haunt - A ghost that returns to the same location is said to haunt it. Ghost generally haunt places, not people. We believe that ghost of Family members are able to follow their relatives.
Electronic Magnetic Field Meter (EMF) - A device to measure the presence of a magnetic field as well as its strength, direction, and fluctuation. Paranormal researchers use this device in an attempt to detect a ghost's magnetic field or energy aura.
Near-Death Experience (NDE) - An experience in undergone by a person who clinically dies, or comes very close to actual death, and is revived. Often, the person recalls extraordinary, even paranormal, visions of an afterlife.
Ouija Board - A board preprinted with letters, numerals, and words used by a person to receive spirit communications. Usually a planchette is employed to spell out words or point out numbers or words. This is a very dangerous tool for those that are not a medium. Evil or gateways can be called an left open.
Out-of-body experience (OBE) - An experience in which a spirit double leaves your body and travels to another location.
Paranormal - Something that is beyond the range of normal human experience or scientific explanation.
Psychic Photography - A capture of images on either film or digital format. Spirit energy or apparitions show up on the film or after digital processing that was not visible by the naked eye when the photo was taken.
Supernatural - Something that exists or occurs through some means other then any known force in nature. As opposed to paranormal, the term "Supernatural" often connotes divine or demonic intervention.
