Vera now haunts the entire college. The second is a man in black that has been reported in several locations of the college. It is said that he is looking for vera.
Personal History by one of the college attendies:
I went to Cottey and graduated in 1984. I never experienced Vera, but heard about things that happened with her while I was there. She haunted Rosemary Hall(which didn't burn down, but had been damaged). She had her sleeve catch on fire during a chafing dish party(candy making). She received burns over most of her body and lingered for many days. She was tended to by her mother and by Mrs. Virginia Alice Cottey Stockhard(the founder and president of the college). She later died. At that time, Main Hall and Rosemary Hall had been connected, so the story goes that she haunts both buildings. Most of the other buildings hadn't been built at that time, so she wouldn't have haunted them. She was a pianist and people have heard 'Fur Elise' being played on a piano when no piano was being played. While I was there, a dress rehearsal for 'Little Women' was ruined by someone loudly singing scales. The sound equipment was off, but the singing was still too loud for the performers to practice. This could only be heard within the building. Those outside the doors could not hear it. Vera supposedly disliked thespians. Possibly as actors and actresses were not regarded as moral people during that time by the general populace.
The man in black is probably who I had heard was 'The Black Spirit' when I was in college. He haunted Reeves Hall. While I was there, security had been called because girls swore they saw a man in the dormitory suites. They would leave their rooms to go to the bathroom or the ute(small kitchen) and would see a man in the living area of the suite. Some girls swore that he grabbed at them. One of my friends swore that she and her roommate were in their beds one night when the door opened and a black form was seen in the doorway. Her roommate was Catholic and had a crucifix on the wall. Amelia said that she looked at it and saw it was upside down on the wall. I have never heard that the black spirit was ever looking for Vera.

It is said that if you go there in the night, you can see and hear the girls. However, documents revealed that this location was not the location of the Girl Scout incident. The incident occurred about one hour from this location in which 3 girl scouts lives were taken during the night. But we can say our research has shown that Waynoka was home to a hunting lodge that was burned down and the history of the land can be traced to the Cave Dwellers and the Osage Indians who encamped there and then used the land as a burial ground. Many paranormal and supernatural events have been recorded by MGHS and many visitors today experience paranormal events.

Blackwell Bridge & Blackwell Road There is a "legend" that goes with the bridge: many people swear to it's legitimacy. The story goes that if you walk across the bridge at night, you can hear drums beating, and see the light from a bonfire under the bridge. As you get back in your car to leave, headlights appear out of nowhere and "chase" your car as you leave. (This is supposed to be the headlights of a Firebird car that a young man had wrecked and died in on the bridge 20 or so years ago.)
