The Ouija Board is like that of Automatic Writings, the medium would receive answers to questions through the use of a board preprinted with letters, numbers and words. The planchette is set on the board. The earliest board of this type dates back to ancient China. Today this device is commonly known as the "Ouija Board", it's name derived from oui and ja, the words for "Yes" in French and German. What makes this so dangerous is that often times the Ouija Board is used by those that are not experienced and are novice users. When they use the board, many spirits may be present and each one of them are often trying to answer at the same time. But, with those spirits, evil and negative spirits are often present. Most believe these spirits to be of the "lower astral plane", thus being those that have died either a violent or sudden death and are most often confused. The real danger comes when the person asks for physical proof of its existence. This request may "Open a Doorway", allowing a violent, evil, or physically destructive spirit to enter the material world. Without the presence of a medium or psychic the evil presence cannot be detected and the session closed before the evil or negative spirits arrive. The Ouija Board was invented by American Ellja J. Bond as a fortunetelling games in 1892. So with this information, "A word of Caution", we here at M.G.H.S. do not recommend the use of the Ouija Board. It is recommended that any users of this device be experienced and/or have a medium present. Most cases of bad experiences comes when the users ask the spirit to show themselves or give them a sign that they are there. Then the sign comes and the users get scared and run off, thus leaving the doorway open and allowing any spirit to come through that doorway.

Ouija Boards: First Hand Accounts of this dangerous tool

Jessica recalls a couple of incidents involving the Ouija Board and her words of warning

Why I consider an Ouija board dangerous.

When I was 14 I was staying at my cousins' house in Ga. They decided to play with an Ouija board. I'd not used one before, my mother (who's had MANY paranormal experiences, herself) wouldn't ever allow it. As with most children, I was eager to do something my mother wasn't there to prevent. At first, my cousin using the board with me was moving the placard.

It was obvious, though when it changed to something different. No longer was it a choppy firm movement, it got extremely smooth and fast. Whatever it was, it wouldn't answer questions, except with "yes" or "no". Yes, it was here...No, it won't spell its name. I can remember asking, "Do you want to answer questions?" the answer was no. Soon, I could sense apparitions in the corners of the room, one of my cousins (not using the board) started getting faint, and laid flat on the floor, the third cousin got up and said "I can't stand this room, any more" and quickly exited. The atmosphere felt thick. As I had not used a board before, I honestly didn't know what the heck was happening, so my cousin using the board asked me, "Should we stop?" I told her we needed to. When we tried to tell the "thing" good bye, it said no, no, no, rapidly, one swipe after the other towards that portion of the board. I don't remember what was said to finally get it to leave, but I do remember the placard flying towards good bye, so fast it struck my cousin in the stomach. We rushed out of that room, all of us. Exiting the room into the hallway was like leaving an dark dank oven, and entering into a cool calm space. Whatever we contacted WAS not a benevolent spirit wanting to to commune with the living. The second episode was years later. I was living with my now husband, Tony, then fiancee. My brother, Ben, had come from Maine to visit. We decided to play with the Ouija (Tony's). I don't remember whose idea it was. My brother and I were the ones actually using the board, Tony sat beside us. I don't remember hardly anything of this event, which is weird, as I am known for my memory of past events. I do know Tony and Ben have very different memories, too. I can recall how whatever we contacted couldn't remember the exact date of its death, nor where it had lived. That, in and of itself, isn't all that special. It's been documented that spirits may get certain things wrong. What started to upset me was this one, as in the story above, refused to spell its name. Soon, I got very upset...it refused to answer questions after the first few, from anyone other than myself. It insisted it wanted to speak to me, only. It was even asked "what do you want?" (don't remember by whom) and the placard came to rest in front of me. I do know this one also didn't want to leave, but did eventually. I was extremely shaken up. To this day Tony and Ben don't remember this event, or things that were said, if they do remember it at all. My theory is that there is another plane that these spirits are on. When you use talking boards, hold a seance, or conduct some other "contact" ritual, you are, in a sense, opening a door between planes and throwing a welcome mat. Yes, the spirit you may be trying to contact, might be there. There may even be benevolent, harmless spirits waiting at that doorway. As with aggressive live people, however, that you know of (ever had a person cut in front of you in a line?), aggressive or harmful entities do the same thing. These entities essentially "cut in the line" in front of the benevolent ones. You have NO idea what you're inviting into your home, or life. My advice is, just don't do it, stay away from contacting with these instruments...they are NOT controlled environments, by far.

Why I consider an Ouija board dangerous.

It was a hot summer day in 1999. My friend and I were bored so we decided to go shopping at one of our local entertainment stores. Well, I ended up buying a little Ouija board on a keychain. It had a little planchette and it really worked. Of course I took it home and decided to play it right away. It was right around nightfall when I placed the planchette on the board and asked, "Ouija board, Ouija board is anybody there?" It wasn't long before I got a strong yes. After I knew for certain that I was in contact with a spirit I asked it, "Are you a good spirit?" It said no, so I quickly said goodbye. I was wearing allot of heavy, silver rings that day and that night when I went to bed I took them off and stacked them neatly in my jewelry box. Then, as I do every night, I closed my bedroom door and locked it. I had been asleep for about 2 and a half hours when a heavy banging woke me up. I have a sliding closet door and it was practically jumping off the track from being hit so hard. Whatever was in my closet was relentless. I grabbed my baseball bat out from under my bed and threw open the closet door, there was nothing in there. Perplexed, I went back to bed. I woke again about an hour later to the sound of dogs fighting viscously. It didn't sound like it was outside though. It sounded like it was going on in my living room. I ran out there to make sure my dog Cricket was ok and she was sleeping as soundly as a baby. Well I brushed that off as my imagination. I figured there were dogs fighting outside and I was just overreacting, because the violent banging on my closet door had scared me so bad. Well, I finally made it through the night after being woken up numerous times, because the CD player and TV in my room kept turning on and off. I got up the next morning and began to get ready. I opened my jewelry box and inside were my rings. They were so bent out of shape that they weren't even wearable anymore. It appeared as if someone had put them in a forge, melted them and then deformed them. They were HEAVY, pure silver rings, and my door was locked all night, except for the time I had to go in the living room. So there was NO WAY anyone could have gotten in my room to twist my rings up like that. They were so heavy that even if someone had gotten in my room they couldn't have misshapen them like that. Needless to say I burned that "harmless" little Ouija board key chain and I have never played with one since. I learned my lesson the hard way. And I still have my rings to show anyone who is skeptical of my story.

Why Ouija Boards are Dangerous

My house was haunted by 3 ghost, now there are six and a thing. Well anyway My mom suggested a Ouija board, but gave us really important rules for it like what never to ask and how to use it. So my best friend Amy came over and so did my mom's friends son, Anthnony. Around 10:00pm we decided to do the board in my room because that's were the ghost mostly go. We talked to some really nice ones that said stuff like how pretty me and Amy were and one really sweet one said to always be careful with this board and said not to use it until after 11:00pm. We ask why and she said just don't. Well our clocks are 10 min fast so we used it at 10:50 thinking it was around 11:00pm well when me, Amy, Anthony, and Byan (my brother) got on, it said that it only wanted to talk to us girls. So they went and sat on my bed, then it said to get them out of the room. "We obeyed", we ask if it was a good ghost it said no, I said no, then I got this pit in my stomach and the air got thick so me and Amy got back on, it said that he hunted us and was very much alive not dead. Then when we ask how many people are moving the board he said six, "that scared me!" I said good-bye put the board up and me and Amy prayed on our knees and got into the hall. I have a nice ghost and he protects me so the bad one hasn't hurt me YET, but in my dreams he does.

Warning about the Ouija Board

I have had two experiences recently with the ouija board. By my experiences with them I recommend that no one touches one ever. The first experience I had was the first time I had ever played with one.Being raised in the Christian faith I knew the dangers of them. But, my curious nature allowed the temptation to be too great. Me and my friend began by asking it personal questions. It started out by spelling out gibberish. But, we kept being persistent and it finally started to speak. It told us that its name was Stef and that she had commited murder in the 1800's and was hung for her crime. With great interest we continued speaking to it. After a few hours I started getting a strange feeling that something was watching me. I then quit playing and decided to go to my dorm because it was late. On my way to my room I heard what sounded like footsteps behind
me. But everytime I would turn around there would be nothing there. I then got to my room and laid down. As I lay there I got goose bumps all over as if something was watching me. I tried to ignore it but it grew stronger. Then I started having trouble breathing. It felt as if I was being choked. I then instantly got up and prayed outside the dorm. In an instant the feelings were gone.
The second encounter was a couple of nights later. My friend had brought his girlfriend over and we were telling her about the board and what had happenend. As we were telling her the encounter her interest grew. She then decided to play it herself. I told her not too because I knew that whatever was associated with them was not good. My friend decided to join her and they went to his bedroom to play. Well me I decided to stay on the porch. I started praying to God that he would protect them. When I got done praying I went in the room where they were and the pointer went to the moon symbol in the corner. That meant that the spirit left. Then it came back and spelled out the word NO over and over again. It then began to spell out dirty words and then left. My friend then smiled at me and asked if I was praying. I told him yes and they both stopped playing. So, with my own personal experience with the Ouija. I recommend that no one
plays with one. They are very addicting and are very dangerous. Because everytime you play you are inviting an evil spirit in your presence.

Sincerely,
Brian

My Mothers Experience

The story that I am about to tell you involves my mom who is a person of the highest integrity, not one prone to flights of fancy or embellishment. This is her story ~ When my mother was approximately 24 she and a group of her friends had decided to have a
table raising using the ouija board. Now keep in mind that this was in the late 50's or early 60's when ouija boards were real wood, with an actual pin in the middle of the planchette, not the rinky little parker brother's editions that you find now. They had
been playing with the ouija board for about an hour or two and asking trivial questions, waiting for midnight, which is when they had told the spirits to raise the table. As it began to near midnight the answers became more malevolent and sometimes would answer using obscene words and the like. At first my mother thought that her friends had been manipulating the board but as things began to escalate she became uneasy. At midnight nothing happened and my mother made a joking comment that the spirits weren't strong enough to pick a table up and at that point the table began to raise almost a foot off of the floor. My mother insists that all her friends' hands were on top of the table so they were not responsible. The table then began to dip and sway erratically so my mother took her hands off the table and it slammed to the floor. No one was touching the ouija board any longer. My mother then proceeded to get her things and leave and as she walked to the door and opened it the pin in the planchette lifted and flew across the room at her almost hitting her in the face. This experience was the reason I was never allowed to have an ouija board, not even a parker brothers. My mother is not a religious fanatic but she did realize that there are things greater than ourselves, powers that we cannot harness. I am 27 years old now and finally have an ouija board although to this day I have never attempted to use it. That says a lot about the respect I have for my mothers experience.

A positive prospect on the Ouija Board

I wanted to drop a line about the spirit board (ouija board). I have read the postings by other people and they are all so negative. I have to say that I disagree. I consider it to be a tool, and if used properly it can be very informative.

My aunt and I get together almost every Saturday night for a "board meeting" and have great success with it. We have learned so many beneficial things and have talked with dear loved ones and even some departed spirits that we have never even met.

I'm not saying that nothing negative can't and won't ever happen, but my aunt and I go to great lengths, using different techniques to protect ourselves. Such as using our Spirit Guides and we also purify our space with a sage smudge stick.

I just thought that it would be a change of pace to post something positively about the board as opposed to something dark and negative.

Tammy
