On 29 Feb. 2008 Missouri Ghost Hunters Society loaded up in our cars and began our vehicle caravan to Estes Park, Colorado. Cars loaded with P.S.I. Tools and plenty of excitement. Of course no trip can be complete without the usual stopping for photos and our trip was no different.

After several hours on the road we began our last leg of the journey. 21 Miles up into the Rocky Mountains. Unfortunately night had settled in on us and the view of the mountains, as we drove up, were not present. Soon we the lights of Estes Park, opened up in a large valley high in the Rocky Mountains. Being tired, we quickly checked into the Holiday Inn to get some well needed rest before The Stanley Hotel Investigation on the following day.
We woke the following morning to a wonderful surprise. We had visitors, and plenty of them. So we spent most of the morning getting acquainted with our new visitors. ELK, and plenty of them. As you can tell from the following photographs, they did not seem to mind all the people of the town and the ELK roamed freely, walking side by side with the residents of Estes Park and most people were taking their morning walk.

It was time to head over to the Stanley Hotel and check in for the night. We had rented the entire 4th floor and was excited to get things set up and going. We pulled our vehicles into the parking lot of the Stanley and was met by numerous groups. One group that stood out from the rest was the Loveland Middle School class that was there doing a report on the Stanley Hotel. Those young men and women were armed with numerous types of cameras and carrying their notebooks and were ready for just about anything. One group was interviewing Derek Nesbit and another group was interviewing Brian and Linda as they stood in the parking lot. I must say that these kids were very polite and knew what they wanted and carried out their jobs like a professional would have done. We were really impressed.

We finished up our interviews, signing autographs and numerous question and answer sessions with, to many to count, different groups and headed inside to check into the hotel for our investigation.

Brian, Derek, Jesse and Garrett check in at the Stanley. We had to pick up all the keys for the entire 4th floor. For this entire 4th floor is open to us and more.

The entire team begin the process of setting up all the monitors, video cameras and evp’s. In this photo Brian and Derek are getting all of the monitors on line. Note a few of the monitors are out of this photo view.

Brian checks out the bathroom of room 418. He had heard children whispering coming from there. After Brian checked out the bathroom, he went back to lay on the bed and wait for any other whispering, instead the whispering came no more, but rather children’s laughter in a low voice. Linda, Derek, Jesse, Dennis, Gina all took turns spending some time in room 418 and all of them had heard unexplained tapping coming from the mirror and dresser. All of us also experienced phantom footsteps go down the hall right in front of room 418. This was a controlled observation and no one else was walking down the hall. Those that were not in room 418 observing, they were in our command room monitoring the viewers and watching those in room 418.

Gina, Linda, Brian and Jesse take a photo of Derek as he attempts to get a closer look at the miniature version of the Stanley Hotel. This miniature in located in the basement where the coffee shop is. We got to admit, it was pretty funny watching Derek.

Jesse captures this orb in the hallway where we heard the phantom footsteps go down. this was right after hearing those footsteps go by.

If you notice the above room door is open a crack. Jesse and Brian were sitting by the stair rail when we heard the door begin to open ever so slowly. Jesse and I both looked toward the door and watched with anticipation. The door stopped creaking and was open about 2 inches when all of the sudden you seen a face go by the crack of the door. This was excellent as we know that no one is in the room. We must also state that this room is right next to the room that Linda walked in and started across the floor when an unknown force slammed the door shut. There was no drafts in the hallway or windows open. Linda stated that when she entered the room, there was a feeling of not being alone.

Linda and Gina stop and listen as we had just heard a response to one of our questions. We were in the tunnels trying to get the spirit of a little girl to respond to our voices. After a while, we were not getting any responses. So Brian stated, “Hey we are leaving now, this is your last chance to let us know you are here.” then the silence was broke by what sounded like someone dropped a furnace from the top floor of a 3 story building, right behind us. This sound was literally right behind us. After searching the area in attempts to find the cause for this sound, we came up with no explainable reason for the sound, for the exception of the paranormal.

This photo diary is in the basement of the Stanley. It shows the making of the movie The Shining and some of the interaction between the actors and the hotel staff. Very interesting indeed.

Personal Experiences

1. At 7:25 P.M. Linda was in room 426 and left the door open behind her. As she turned away the entrance door slammed shut by an unknown force.

2. At 7:28 P.M. Room 406 entrance door was shut by Derek Nesbit and left the area. He returned about 1 minute later and the door opened by itself.

3. At 7:48 P.M. Jesse and Brian were sitting in the hallway in front of room 426 and the door to room 428 began to open up slowly. Jessie and Brian watched the door as it opened even further to where about a one inch open space. We were watching the crack and and suddenly Brian saw someone pass by the crack. As if someone walked in front of the door from inside the room. We began talking to the unseen presence asking them to open the door even further. Soon the creaking noise of the door began and the door would open just a little each time.

4. At around 8:00 P.M. Gina and Linda were in room 413 and heard tapping on the mirror on the small closet door. Also heard tapping on the desk on the far side of the room by the window.

5. At 9:00 P.M. Gina heard scratching on the night stand in room 401 while lying in the bed alone.

6. At 9:16 P.M. Linda was lying in the bed in room 418 by herself and heard a tapping and shuffling of feet coming from the bathroom.

7. At 9:18 P.M. Derek was lying in the bed in room 412 with Dennis sitting in the chair in the same room. Derek and Dennis heard a tapping and popping noise by the night stand next to him.

8. At 9:15 P.M. Gina was in room 401 and heard a scraping noise on the opposite night stand closest to the porch. Sounded like someone's nail scraping against the wood of the night stand

9. At 9:28 P.M. Brian was lying in the bed in room 418 by himself and soon after lying in the bed he heard whispering coming from the bathroom. He could hear the whispering loud and clear. Then there was a shuffling of feet sound coming from the bathroom. Only later hearing children’s low voice laughter.

10. From 9:45 to 10:40 P.M.. Dennis was in room 418. Upon first entering the room I noticed a "heavy" feeling in the air above me as I lay down and found it a bit more difficult to breathe. This feeling eased over the duration of my stay in the room. Almost immediately noticed the hallway creaking as if someone were sneaking by or as if a smaller person was in the hallway. On several occasions this happened and it was verified that at the time there were no other persons in the hallway. Also many sounds seeming to come from the northwest portion of the room. Near 10:20 P.M.. the door to the room closed but didn’t latch. The door had been left open about 1" and I could hear the door latch clicking on the door frame. Also heard a hollow wooden sound on several occasions coming from what sounded like the bathroom area immediately following a tap coming from the northwest portion of the room.

11. At around 11:30 P.M. Linda and Gina were in room 412. No activity at first, and then Brian brought a rod for us to try to communicate. It seemed to be a small boy who wanted to play with the ball in the hallway, but felt he couldn't leave the room. Goose bumps radiated in waves from Gina's back and down both arms, especially when the rods pointed at her. During there time in the room, Linda could not move her legs, as if they were weighed down. No matter how hard she attempted to move her legs, the harder she tried, the heavier they felt. This lasted for a few minutes. During this time, she felt a presence just out of her sight just like Sleep Paralysis, but Linda had never entered into any point of sleep. She was wide awake and talking with Gina.

12. about 11:25 when I was in room 401 I was feeling like someone was in there with me as if they were watching me ,I heard piano music, and felt a lot of pressure to the point where I couldn’t catch my breath

13.  at 12:01 Gina announced that she heard children playing outside her door, Jesse got up to go down the hall to sit on the couch and listen. for some reason he felt it a bad idea to go down the hall. Just then he noticed something out of the corner of his eye to his left. He turn to see a shadow suddenly appear behind his as if someone was standing behind him. He assumed that Derek, who was in the safe room, had come up behind him for some reason and turned to find him still sitting down. Jesse returned to the room surprised, only to see a face appear in the doorway as if peeking around the corner and then suddenly disappear again. the figure would be about 5 1/2' tall

This was a few of the personal experiences that some of our team experienced. We must note that we debunk all of what we experiences first and then and only then do we post our experiences. The Stanley Hotel was a great investigation. MGHS was met with open arms and was given free reign of the things we wanted to investigate. The staff there was more then kind and always will to make sure all of our needs were met. Our special thanks to Billy for taking care of us while we were there and the the Loveland Middle School Class for all of their interest in us and we were honored to have you guys do your story on MGHS. Those young men and women were professional and very polite as each one of us were interviewed and photos take of us. Thank you.
